Best of the Rest: Welcome to 2011 Edition

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great time watching the ball drop. I’m excited for the start of something new and look forward to interacting with all of you this year! I’ve already got a bunch of great posts lined up that will provide useful information, bring new ideas to the table, and challenge the way you normally think about personal finance. Get excited!

Now that we’re in 2011, Engineer Your Finances has 10 ways to avoid an IRS Audit. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to file a Schedule C. Still, since I’m going to be 100% truthful, I have nothing to be afraid of!

PT Money explains why he automates his finances and who probably shouldn’t do it. I love having my rent check sent automatically and have my bills paied without me having to take action. It saves me time and stress, but this system isn’t for everyone!

I compared the tax cuts and stimulus packages, but Darwin’s Money goes a step further and explains why those who make 6 figures are really getting 2 bonuses this year. I don’t call it a bonus because nothing has changed, but at the same time, I hope people don’t complain that taxes are increasing when the Payroll Tax Decudction disappears and we go back to paying 6.2%

Fiscal Geek shows why what’s best for your credit isn’t always what’s best for your finances. Ideally they go hand in hand, but unfortunately, we sometimes have to make decisions. I say always do what’s best for your finances. Don’t get credit if it’s not the best thing for you. If you don’t need credit, then your score is just a number!
