6 Ways to Make Money on the Side

6 Ways to Make Money on the SideToday, there are more options out there for making money and earning a living than ever before. In the past, if you wanted to make money legally, you basically had the option to either work a full time job or start a company.

But somewhere in history, that changed. Now, people are more driven than ever to find creative ways to make money in addition to their full-time job. Who knows, if you do it well enough, maybe it could turn into your full time job. With that in mind, here are 6 great ways to make some extra income for yourself.

Market and Sell a Talent

Everyone has something (or a number of things), that they are incredibly good at. It could be anything from writing, to drawing, to singing or anything else. These are not only talents you can use to impress your friends and family, they can also make you money. There are many online services (Fiverr, Etsy, etc…) where you can essentially make money by creating things for others. Once you have some experience, you can even move away from these sites and seek out your own clients.

Affiliate Marketing/Starting and monetizing a Blog

Affiliate Marketing is essentially the idea of being rewarded for bringing traffic and an audience to another person’s product, blog or website. This can be very rewarding if your audience is large, active and are interested in the affiliate you are working with. One common way that this works is PPC, which is Pay Per Click, so you would get a certain amount of money from each time someone clicks on your link to the affiliate sites. For this to be fruitful, you need a blog or website, and with those being so esy to start up and maintain, what’s stopping you?!

Become a Freelancer

Depending on the job you have or what kinds of skills you have, you could easily branch off and begin taking on clients as an independent contractor. Whether you are a writer, web designer, marketer, social media specialist, programmer or a number of other things, freelancing is a definite possibility. Over time, you may even be comfortable enough quitting your full time job in favour of freelancing full time, though that is a decision that should be thought about for a while before pulling the trigger on it.

Flipping items

This is basically just a fancy way of saying that you go out and buy things at a low price, fix them up or clean them a little bit, and sell them online for a profit. This can be done with anything from electronics to furniture. Garage sales and clearance sales at retail locations are great places to find hidden treasures that can be rejuvenated with a little work. While this definitely takes some time and a bit of work, it can be extremely profitable.

Have a Garage Sale

Whether it be a physical garage sale or selling on one of the many websites made for selling used goods, a garage sale can be a great thing. Not only are you likely to make some decent money, you are going to de-clutter your home in the process. While this may not make you as much as fixing up your household items and selling them online, this is a much more stress-free way of doing things, and takes less time.

Complete Online Surveys

While this isn’t going to make you rich, completing surveys online can be a good way to make a few extra dollars with minimal effort. There are many different sites out there that hire individuals from across the world to complete thousands of different surveys. These can take anywhere from a few minutes up to over half an hour. Some of these sites pay in the form of gift cards or rewards, but others will actually pay in cash.

If you make an effort to employ one or a few of these methods in your life, you will soon find yourself earning hundreds of dollars (or more) every single month.

  1. I like all of the ideas except I don’t recommend the surveys. I know it’s just my personal experience but I did them regularly for a couple of years, and just found that they were more trouble than they were worth. But the other ideas I’m all for!
